The makers of Tapir say this quite deliberately, because they are passionate about car care for classic cars.
Their solutions for the detailing and preservation of classic cars are made from natural raw materials. Matched to the paints, leathers and fabrics from the time of our classic vehicles.

The fine art of material composition...

Perfect paint care requires more than just a good wax: you need waxes that can be polished, waxes that provide suppleness, waxes that allow water to roll off and waxes that can withstand temperature fluctuations.
With decades of experience, the Tapir team develops the perfect combination of different raw materials for the very best paint care.

The best natural raw materials are carefully selected. Naturally, top-quality carnauba wax is indispensable for classic car paint care. But other raw materials - often much more expensive than carnauba wax - are also processed in Tapir's German factory. Only the successful interaction of natural raw materials with different properties guarantees the best care results.
This is tested with a reflectometer, a device that can measure the gloss level of surfaces. It provides unmistakable proof of the unsurpassed quality of Tapir car care: it doesn't get any shinier than this. That's why Tapir only has one high-gloss wax, namely the best they can produce. Because only the best is good enough!

A little material science...

Carnauba wax is indisputably the hardest natural wax and a hard wax promises the best polishability.
But as with everything, too much is not always good. It is the dose that counts. It is not the percentage of carnauba wax in a formula that is decisive for the best quality, but the perfect interaction of all the ingredients.
Tapir car care contains a variety of different natural waxes, oils, greases and solvents.

Carnauba wax
is brushed from the top of the leaves of the carnauba palms. It comes from Brazil and is processed at Tapir in prima yellow, the most expensive quality. Gives the best high gloss.

Shellac wax
is produced during the manufacture of wax-free shellacs and is the excretory product of a species of louse together with tree sap. It is extracted in Southeast Asia and provides the inner stability and durability of wax formulations.

Sugar cane wax
is obtained in a complex process from the filter residue during sugar production. Tapir sources the sugar cane wax from India. It guarantees suppleness during application as well as three-dimensional shine.

Candelilla wax
is a grass wax obtained from the leaves and stems of the candelilla bush. It comes from northern Mexico and provides an intense, water-repellent effect.

Citrus peel oil
is extracted from the peel residues of oranges and lemons. Tapir imports citrus peel oil from Brazil. It dissolves waxes and oils and guarantees a creamy consistency of our products. It can also be used undiluted as a cleaning agent and smells pleasantly of oranges.

Balsam turpentine oil
is obtained by tapping pine trees. The tree resin contains balsam turpentine oil, which dissolves waxes and provides a pleasant smell of fresh resin. The particularly mild turpentine oil from Portugal is used in Tapir products.

Linseed oil
is pressed from linseed. Comes from the Baltic region. As a crude linseed oil, it can harden after application and form a durable protective film on surfaces.

Why complicate things when they can be simple...?

The market for car care and detailing products is huge, confusing and confounding. An endless number of designations and product names make it difficult to keep track. When should I use which product, how and in which order for which surface?

Tapir has now developed a sensible and structured system that allows you to always find the right car care product by a simple combination of numbers.
The most important application areas are numbered:

1 for paint
3 for plastic
4 for upholstery fabric
5 for leather
6 for wood

Then continue with the second digit. As you go up, you can now apply the other car care products from the appropriate areas. Then nothing can go wrong.
So 1.0 Shampoo is followed logically by 1.2 Paint Cleaner and then 1.3 Fine Polish up to 1.6 High Gloss Wax.
